Southern Tier Area Rentals, STAR is a limited liability corporation formed by Tom Leyden and Doug Acomb in the Spring of 2006 to fill a perceived need for a rental outlet in the southern tier area. “People were constantly coming into our main office at Babcock looking to rent something. We always had to refer them to Rochester or Corning”. Tom and Doug were approached by Milton Cat in the Fall of 2005 and were offered a chance to become Milton’s rental alliance for the “southern tier”. They accepted and STAR was born. STAR works with businesses, municipalities and residents in Livingston, Steuben, Ontario, Allegany and Wyoming counties. STAR has grown from strictly a mini-equipment rental shop to a multi faceted construction service and supply outlet. STAR’s volume doubled in its first two seasons, which was cause to expand their product lines. STAR now represents Ferris, Simplicity and Snapper Pro lawn mowing equipment, Echo landscaping equipment, Honda Power Equipment, Sakrete concrete products, Hancor pipe, Kistner precast concrete products, ground maintenance equipment and a variety of other products and services. We also offer hydraulic hose repair for many types of machines including the complete Caterpillar line. We are a drop box location for Milton Cat. Milton’s parts deliveries and pick-ups are daily at 8AM.
